Education: Writer and photographer Denis Roche has published over thirty books, and founded the Fiction & Cie collection (Seuil) in 1974. His photographs have appeared in exhibitions around the world since 1978. In 1980, he was one of originators of the review, Cahiers de la photographie, and was awarded the Grand Prix de Photographie by the city of Paris in 1997.
Aesthetic: Denis Roche explores his thinking about photography in his book La Disparition des lucioles. His work his preoccupied with questions of Time and with formal experimentation.
Influences: Le Boîtier de mélancolie brings together 100 of Denis Roche’s writings on 100 photos, from the likes of Nicéphore Niépce to Bernard Plossu.
